History of the School
La Isla Bonita Elementary School opened its doors in September 2000 with a total enrollment of 35 children. Unfortunately, the same year it was opened, luck was not present because the newly constructed buildings were completely destroyed by hurricane Keith. This was the biggest challenge ever experienced by the school and its management. Nevertheless, it needed to be revived, considering the important role it was to perform in society though education. With strong enthusiasm, motivation, faith and courage, the management of La Isla Bonita Elementary School faced the challenges and took a stand for a new start. Today, La Isla Bonita Elementary School is back on its feet and has developed ever further.
Special thanks, recognition and dedication are given to Mr. Robert and Mrs. Diane Campbell and Mrs. Mary Van of New York who was indeed a true benefactor towards La Isla Bonita Elementary School. “A world of gratitude to Mrs. Van for her thoughtful deed.”
La Isla Bonita Elementary School provides an educational opportunity for both boys and girls with a starting age of 4 ½ to 5 years, offering knowledge in accordance to the Government School Curriculum. It presently has enrollment of 92 students from Infant I to Standard VI, with an average of 12-15 children per class evenly split between boys and girls. With nine teachers, the vision of the school’s staff and management is focused on future expansion and being a leader in the provision of education.
The management, staff and children are kindly seeking assistance and more involvement from parents, business houses and the community. We are greatly appreciative of this participation.
